Bella Tucker

I recently visited Bella Tucker at Boston Children's Hospital with Jane Marshall and Tamara. At 8 years old, Bella battled with Streptococcus Pneumoniae Sepsis. This caused Bella to fall into a choma and causing all four of her limbs to be amputated. Even after everything that Bella has gone through she still manages to wake up everyday striving to be nothing but the best she can be. She has the biggest and brightest smile I have ever seen. One that is so big that puts tears to my eyes. She is so ambitious and outgoing, which is absolutely incredible to see. Bellas supporting and amazing father told us that she would be getting prosthetics. The advancements in technology and medicine are so impressive. The prosthetics that Bella will be
receiving will get attached to her nerves which will allow Bella's body to control the prosthetics. Bella was so excited because she will be able to wear normal shoes with the prosthetics, so we are all looking forward to taking her shopping for new shoes when she returns from Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia! While we sat in Bella's hospital room with her family, Bella began her physical therapy. She did 12 different exercised in all of her limbs. I was in awe while watching her do the exercised and seeing how determined she was not only physically but mentally. I enjoyed watching her because it really makes you realize how lucky and fortunate we are in life. Bella is determined to be able to walk again and do gymnastics again and she is working so hard toward that. We later gave Bella's dad the money we received the fundraiser we had at the carnival. The look in her dad's eyes was like no other. It was so unexpected and he seemed so happy and fortunate. It was a look I will never forget. Bella and her family touched my heart and will always have a place in it. I look forward to taking a trip down to Philadelphia to see Bella as she gets her prosthetics.

USO New England 4th of July

On the Fourth of July I joined my sister state titleholders from Vermont, Nydelis and Shelby at the USO New England Fourth of July Celebration for the United States Coast Guard. Miss Massachusetts America, Loren Galler Rabinowitz, also attended the event with us. It was great to have her be a part of it because not only was it her first appearance as Miss Massachusetts America but it was also her first weekend with that title.The event was set up like an old fashioned barbeque. It was sponsored by Texas Roadhouse and consisted of live country music, dancing, and activities. I have to say, my favorite activity of them all was the Sumo Wrestling. Shelby and I thought it would be fun if we wrestled together. I also have to admit that I lost miserably to her, not only once but twice! I give her all the bragging rights there is because those suits are so difficult to wrestle in but also so much fun. We were able to tour the ships that they use as well as learn how they are used and what the equipment is for. We were also introduced to several sailors, captains, individuals currently in the Coast Guard Academy, and a few of our troops that were home for the Fourth of July. It was so nice to see their friends and families there supporting them as well as individuals in the community and tourists in Boston for the holiday. I loved all the spirit and had an honorable time.

East Longmeadow Carnival for Bella Tucker

On July 3, I was given the opportunity to attend the 4th of July Carnival that was held in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Joining me in attendance was Trish Grzela, who is Miss Pink and won the title after being a Breast Cancer Survivor, Tamara Sacharczyk, Miss Massachusetts Teen World who just competed for the title of Miss Teen United States World and placed top 10, and Jane Marshall, Mrs. Massachusetts International, who will be competing for the title of Mrs. International in two weeks! We gathered at the fair in order to set up a booth to raise funds for an individual named Bella Tucker. We sold raffles of custom jewelry pieces from Karmic Kreations, Aveda Products, bracelets made for Bella Tucker, and pins. What I found to be extraordinary was that there were several people who were so touched by Bella's story that they made a donation without entering a raffle or purchasing a bracelet or pin. Although we had only spent a few hours at the carnival, we managed to raise $320 for her. All the proceeds are being donated to "Friends of Bella" The "Friends of Bella" Organization is for Bella Tucker an 8 year old who went from enjoying an Easter Egg Hunt with her cousins to being med-flighted to Children's Hospital with a serious infection called Streptococcus Pneumoniae. She remained in a coma for five days and later doctors had to remove all four limbs. Bella is still in urgent care and will be facing a long hospital stay and extended rehabilitation. Bella Tucker and her family are in urgent need for financial support to get through these trying times. I will be personally meeting this inspiration and strong young girl on Friday, July 9 in order to give her all the donations we were able to collect. I am so excited to have this be my last appearance before I go compete at Miss Teen USA because it is one that has touched my life and impacted it to great lengths. Scene Magazine VolleyPalooza

While competing for the title of Miss Massachusetts Teen USA, myself along with the other contestants took part in an interview. One of the judges for the Teen was Bobby DiMarzo; I remember getting along so well with him because we had so much in common and he really understood my ambitions in life. I used to dream of being a Magazine Editor, and Bobby is the owner of Scene Magazine, so we hit it off. Seven months later, we were reunited at the Scene Magazine Volleypalooza Tournament! What made the event so enjoyable was having our team be made up of our pageant family, and when I say family, I truly mean family. It is something that I have gained as a titleholder, a second family. It consisted of: Lacey Wilson (Miss Massachusetts USA 2010), Monica Pietrzak (Miss Connecticut USA 2009), Neil Gannon (La Tete Stylist and Clemente Productions Sponsor), Paul Spindler, and Chelsea Wilson (USC Volleyball Player). Our wonderful directors were there to support us, along with other staff members of Clemente Productions, and the best trainer ever, Katie Boyd! The game was held at Ocean Club at Marina Bay in Quincy, Massachusetts. The beach volleyball location was perfect and overlooked the harbor. There were teams from all over the Boston area consisting of model's and popular people in the industry. We had the best team ever and got together a head of time to practice because they always say, "Practice makes perfect!" I am sad to say that for us, it only made perfect mistakes! Although we may have lost, we had an absolute blast playing together and laughing. I love my pageant family and was happy to spend the day doing this with them! It started off at a meeting location to get some protein into our systems and talk "strategy" and ended as a great evening filled with memories and laughter. Special Olympics Summer Games

On Saturday June 20, 2010, I attended the Special Olympics Summer Games held at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I was so excited for this day to come because I had attended the Winter Games and stayed in contact with several of the athletes as well as some of their families. If you read back to the post that I had wrote during the Dance that took place at the Winter Games, I spoke about a young man by the name of John who had brought me on stage to dance with him. When I arrived at the Summer Games, his father came up to me and said, "Hi, I am not sure if you remember me but you danced with my son John at the winter games and brought him on stage. Well he has been talking about you ever since, do you mind coming to say hello?" Not only did I vividly remember him and his son, but his son was someone that I will never forget because of that night. Anyway, I walked with him over to find his son John who was about 100 meters away. As soon as John turned around and saw me, he dashed towards me for a hug! It was so great seeing him and watch him compete in the Track and Field events. He had done so wonderful! Along with John, I had seen a lot of other athletes that I met at the Winter Games. I also was able to walk around to the different events. It was incredible! They had gymnastics, volleyball, track and field, softball, baseball, swimming, lifting, and so many more. I was so inspired to see how hard each of the individuals work to get that far and compete in these events. I was so proud! And congratulations to all the athletes and all the medalists!

Community Service Team Off to Nationals

Tomorrow Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School's Community Service SkillsUSA team will be heading to Nationals to compete with schools across the country. This year I served as their ambassador to spread their message "Together We Can." I am so beyond happy for their team and know that they will do wonderful at Nationals. Regardless of the outcome, they made a lasting impression on our state, school, and community. The team has continued to raise awareness throughout school projects, community outreach and volunteer work on the risks and prevention of cancer. I have witnessed them dedicating countless hours to their campaign and know the commitment they had to it and the cause they were supporting. They have spent countless hours collecting Children's Books for Boston Children's Hospital. They also worked closely with Dana Farber and the American Cancer Society, raising money for those two incredible foundations. On Mother's Day, I traveled to the State House with the team to hang a banner that they had made across the State House to honor all the Mother's who had suffered from any form of cancer. After seeing what a fabulous job they had done, I couldn't be more honored and proud to be their ambassador. Please keep them in your thoughts this week as they travel to Kansas City, MO to compete at the National SkillsUSA Champions at Work Competition!

HMEA

I was given a flash drive when I began working with the HMEA Organization of various videos and photographs. I found this video in particular to be very inspiring. Did you know that 438,000 of Massachusetts' 3.8 million working age adults have a disability? HMEA supports these individuals and focuses on bettering their lives. Channel 7 News Health and Fitness Expo

Jane Marshall and I attended the NBC News Channel 7 Health and Fitness Expo held at the Hynes Conventions Center. The expo featured individuals from hospital and health care centers all over the boston area, as well as fitness specialists, nutritionists, etc. It was great to see how our society truly is transforming into a healthy one. One where they are beginning to rely on energy sufficient products, one where healthy eating is most important, and one where exercise becomes a mandatory activity. My favorite part of the expo was having the chance to listen to NFL Star and former New England Patriot, Tedy Bruschi speak about why all of this is important to him. He spoke about his experience after he had a stroke and what motivated him to get back on the field and the preventative he now takes in order to prevent having a stroke again. He also spoke about his most memorable experiences in the NFL and for the record, none of them were the Superbowl. They were far more meaningful then a game, it was about the people he met and the support from his family. I thought it was so touching to hear people speak up to Tedy Bruschi about how he changed their lives and how he pushes them to fight for their health after a road block. It was a great and educational expo that I learned so much from.

Regarding a Message..

I came home the other day to this message about the hospital visit I did at UMASS Memorial. What is significant about this message to me if that this boy in particular, Jose, really did touch my heart. The things I learned made me realize what it is that I ultimately would like to do in life. I felt honored to receive this message and know that people do care about what you have to say, and your opinions do matter, and giving back really does make a difference. So thank you.

Relay for Life

After attending the fashion show at the Senior Center, I moved along to the Relay for Life that was held for the Tyngsborough and Westford communities. Cancer Awareness is Jane's platform for the Mrs. International pageant, so I wanted to be there to support her and hear her speak about the cause that she feels so strongly about. Watching her speak made me realize so much. Jane was so inspiring as she talked about her mom that passed on due to cancer. Jane spoke about how it affected her and her family and what she does now because of it. I was so proud of her for getting out there in front of such a large group of people and speaking from her heart. She did a beautiful job! I couldn't believe how great it was to see how many individuals came out for the event- nurses, high school students, and adults, especially considering the weather conditions. It was an overnight walk that ended at six in the morning the following day. There was a band, a dj, people cooking on the grill, a snack bar, and activities like kick ball tournaments taking place. Later everyone signed a banner explaining why they were there. I signed the banner in honor of a family friend, Nikki McConnell, a beloved teacher, Mr. Ed Waters, someone who has had a huge impact in my life, Mrs. Rosemary Quirk, and an inspiring individual, Mark Herzlich. I had a great time at the Relay for Life and found it to be an event and walk that really open peoples eyes. If you have a chance to take part in any Relay for Life's, please do, it is something that you will never forget.

Leominster Senior Center

The Leominster Senior Center held a fashion show for all of their residents. I had a great time at the fashion show with Mrs. Massachusetts, Jane Marshall, who brought her 15 months year old daughter. Then I got to meet some great new friends like Miss New Hampshire National Miss, Shauna Conwell, and Miss Massachusetts National Teenager, Amber Coelho. I was told that Amber will be competing in the Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2011 Pageant this coming November, how exciting! The residents were so excited to see how and have us interact with their generation. They also adored Jane's beautiful baby daughter, who was adorable and walking around waving to everyone. After we spent some time with the residents, we took a walk through the Alzheimer's and Dementia portion of the resident's home considering they couldn't leave their rooms. It was great to spend time with the elders and give back to them!

Audi Best Buddies Hyannis Port Challenge

For the past few months I have been raising money to participate in the Audi Best Buddies Hyannis Port Challenge, a one hundred mile bicycle ride from Boston, Massachusetts to Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, also known as Cape Cod. The challenging bike ride began at JFK Library and ended at Craigsville Beach. Although the day of the ride began with torrential downpours and thunder storms, it ended up being a beautiful day. The riding path was along back roads so the scenery was beautiful. I rode alongside my good friend and sister state, Shelby Gregoire, Miss Vermont Teen USA. She and I had some great laughs. The ride was challenging so there were points where Shelby and I would just laugh. It was great to ride with her because we had so much to talk about and we gathered some unforgettable memories. At the end up the bike ride, there were the Tandem Best Buddies Rides. The Best Buddies would pair up with a VIP Celebrity and ride on the tandem bikes through a path. There were stations set up with activities and it was right on the ocean so everything was beautiful. Later, we all attended a Lobster and Clambake. There was also a band and raffles during the course of our dinner. I had a blast dancing with everyone and getting to know some of the buddies. Several of them spoke and it was so inspiring to see them get on stage in front of everyone and speak about their dreams. I had the time of my life and it is the event that will remain in my heart and head forever. Thank you to everyone who helped me reach my fundraising goal and make this ride possible while supporting a great cause!

Flag Football with Tom Brady for Best Buddies

Once a year, the Best Buddies holds the annual Audi Hyannis Port Best Buddies Challenge. This year, to kick off the fabulous event, there was a Touch Football game with Tom Brady from the New England Patriots! I thought the game was so great because not only was Tom Brady taking part in the game but so wasn't several of the Best Buddies! Joining them were other athletes from the New England Patriots, Mark Herzlich the Boston College Linebacker, and our current Miss USA, Rima Fakih. The game was wonderful and really got everyone involved and excited for the event that took place the following day. The football game was held at Harvard Stadium, which I thought was the perfect location. After the game, there was a "barbeque", but if you ask me it was more like a gormet cookout! There you could find anyone from those athletes, to celebrities like Verne Troyer or Bob Saget, to current titleholders, to the buddies, and even to my high school calculus teacher (small world)! It was so wonderful to see how excited everyone was and to meet the members of the Best Buddies Organization. I think what makes the organization so wonderful is the commitment from the staff and the dedication and heart that they have for it along with everyone else in our country. I found that it really unites everyone. I had so much fun with the buddies, was able to reconnect with a buddy I met at the "Friendship Relay" named Chris, met one of my all time Patriot players, was inspired by Mark Herzlich's story, and got to catch up with Miss USA! Thank you to everyone for making this night possible. I will never forget it!

Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts

The Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts has been serving children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities in over one hundred communities for more than 50 years. This incredible organization held a fundraiser to raise money for their foundation at a beautiful country club and golf course in Plymouth, Massachusetts. There were about 200 attendees total throughout the course of the Golf Tournament and dinner. Companies and sponsors from all over Massachusetts teamed up to take part in the golf tournament. The Cerebral Palsy was fortunate to raise an abundance of money while still having a fun time out on the green and enjoying themselves at dinner! Thank you for making me a part of this unforgettable evening!

HMEA Walk for Independence

Recently, I participated in the HMEA 5k Walk/Run for Independence. HMEA provides innovative services in schools, work forces, and homes in communities throughout Massachusetts to serve children and adults with developmental disabilities. "HMEA is committed to working in partnership with people with developmental disabilities and their families to create individualized supports that best meet their unique needs." I had been contacted right after I was crowned to take part in this walk and throughout the several months of preparation, I was given the privilege to get to know the staff members at HMEA and all of their clients, which made the Walk for Independence just that much more enjoyable. I felt that it would be nice to do something at the booth I was given other than just sign autographs, so I decided to have a "Create your own tiara booth"! Considering there were several young kids there, both the girls and boys enjoyed making their own tiaras or "King Crowns" as the boys would say. I was so touched and felt so appreciated by the clients that I have decided to now go and do group home visits. It is always an honor when parents or supervisors come speak with you about how "you made someone's day" or make comments like "wow, I can tell this is what you love to do..." I had a wonderful time at the HMEA event and was thrilled to see Governor Deval Patrick attend and show his support, it says a lot about Massachusetts!... And by the way, this is what I love to do!

Best Buddies Ice Cream Party

In early March, I attended the Best Buddies Friendship Relay. I had such a wonderful time at that rewarding event. School's whom have a chapter in the Best Buddies Organization all raised money to be a part of the Friendship Relay. Part of the prize package for the teams that raised the most amount of money was that I was going to throw an Ice Cream Party for them. There were four top schools! So far i have thrown two of the pizza parties, one at Hopkinton High School and the most recent at Nashoba Regional High School. So many of the buddies joined me at the party at Nashoba Regional High School. I was also very fortunate to have Mrs. Massachusetts, Jane Marshall join me. She has become someone who I have grown very close to throughout my reign. She has made me a part of the organizations that are closest to her heart and I have made her a part of the ones closest to mine, so I was thrilled to have her attend the party with me as a special guest. I was so proud of the school and how involved they are with the Best Buddies Organization. It touched my heart to see the kids in the high school getting involved with the buddies. After the ice cream party, I had the chance to mingle with everyone. I was able to be acquainted with some new friends, one in particular Nick who told me all about his love for hockey and lacrosse (which I loved to hear considering I am a huge hockey fan), and reconnect with old friends, like Patrick who I met at the Friendship Relay when he was dressed up like Scooby Doo as his favorite super hero! As always, my experience with the Best Buddies Organization was a rewarding one and I enjoyed meeting new buddies!

UMASS Hospital Visit

After only being home for two days, I went to UMASS Memorial in Worcester to do a hospital visit with Mrs. Massachusetts, Jane Marshall. Her and I went to the Pediatrics Unit and played in the activity room with several of the children. It was great because not only did the room have tons of activities like puzzles and air hockey, but there was also arts and crafts where kids could create something of their own. We later got the opportunity to do room visits, which I found to be so touching. It was really sad, especially when we went into rooms where we were asked to put an entire suit on for coverage, along with gloves, and a mask. We visited rooms of individuals who ranged from two years old to twenty-one years old. All the young children were so cute and it touched my heart and made me realize how fortunate we are and how much we take for granted in life, even some of the simplest things, like breathing or communicating. It definitely makes you appreciate things and I wish more people could see that. There was one young man, named Jose, who had developmental problems. The nurse told me that although he could not speak, he could share his emotions through music. She also clarified that he loved being read to! After I met him, he and I played the piano together. Another young man, who was eight years old asked Jane and I if we were the queen and princess of America. He then proceeded to tell us that even if we weren't, we were still his queens. He was absolutely adorable and filled with so much life and happiness regardless of everything that may have been happening to him. The afternoon was filled with love, generosity, and kindness. I was happy to have spent it with Jane because she has become like a second mother to me. It is charity work like this that makes everything worthwhile.

Photo Shoot with Benizo

When I was in Vegas I was sure to set up at photo shoot with "Benizo" the photographer being Benjamin Urcuyo. I had known a lot of the other contestants who had shot with him and thought that he was wonderful, so I wanted to be sure to book something with him. And let me just start by saying, they were absolutely correct! As soon as I got there he introduced me to Amin Kabani, who is the makeup artist, as well as Albert Luiz, who was the stylist. Both of them are so incredibly artistic and talented. I couldn't believe what a phenomenal job they did with the hair and make-up! After that, I began shooting. Ben was incredible and so unique. The photo shoot was so relaxing and fun and filled with so much energy. He was able to see a different side of me and bring that side to life. It was such a breath of fresh air to meet someone who was so passionate about his job. It is so obvious to see that too when you are shooting with him. I highly recommend that if you have the opportunity, then shoot with him. He is like no other and you will fall in love with your photographs and make some lifelong friends. Miss USA

Miss USA 2010 took place on Sunday, May 16th, live from Planet Hollywood. Prior to the event all the teens were given passes into rehearsals. It was nice to be able to go into one of the rehearsals and see how it was ran prior to competing at Miss Teen USA. Last that afternoon, the live telecast begin. I was so excited to see all the girls, especially because I was able to get to know and meet several of them prior to that. My Miss, Lacey Wilson, looked absolutely fabulous. I hadn't been able to see her that much before she left because she was so busy preparing. Her body looked great and her styling looked fabulous... thank you Katie Boyd and Neil! At the live telecast they announce the top 15, then the top 10, then the top 5, and finally the winner. I was watching it and taking it all in and all I could think of was, how do they choose? All the girls were so beautiful, in such such good shape, and so well rounded. The top 5 consisted of Maine, Colorado, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Michigan. Each of them were put to the test with two questions: one of a personal one and the other was a question regarding current events. After that, the set of celebrity judges chose our new Miss USA. Miss Michigan USA, Rima Fakih, was crowned Miss USA 2010 that evening! I was very happy for her and felt that she was very deserving. It brought tears to my eyes to see her excitement after she won. Last that evening I attended the Miss USA After party! I have a great time at it and met some wonderful people. CONGRATULATIONS RIMA FAKIH!

Fashion Rocks Event

Saturday evening in Las Vegas, I was selected to take part in the Fashion Rocks event which was held at the Hard Rock Cafe. This event was a fashion show sponsored by Sherri Hill and it showcased a selection of her evening gowns as well as cocktail dresses. The thing I love about Sherri Hill is that she has such a variety and diverse collection of dresses everything is so beautiful, not to mention, she is such a kind women. I wore a bright pink cocktail dress and ironically one of my good friends, Emma (Miss California Teen USA) wore the exact same colored dress! It was funny because we are a lot alike and that was not even planned! The fashion show was filled with energy and was so much fun, but prior to it there was a Red Carpet Event. Myself along with the rest of the teens were interviewed on the Red Carpet and did photo ops. It was so much fun and really exciting to be on the red carpet. I think it was also a great opportunity for all the teens to be able to speak in front of the camera and on live webcast! After the fashion show, Emma and I did an interview with Allie LaForce, who is a former Miss Teen USA regarding the Rain Cosmetics line. The evening was filled with excitement! I got to meet some great new people and reconnect with old friends! I was so happy to be a part of it!

Beauty Expo

On Saturday morning on the day of May 15th, the Miss Universe Organization and Planet Hollywood held a "Beauty Expo." The expo consisted of popular pageant boutiques throughout the nation, as well as some wonderful designers... Tony Bowls being one of them, shoe companies, Rain Cosmetics, Chi Products, Miss Teen USA Fantasy Camp, and so much more! It was great because at the start of the Beauty Expo, all the teens were asked to line up on stage. Each of us were brought up individually in front of everyone to answer a personal question about ourselves, then do a quick walk and pose to the end of the runway. It was nice to learn something new about each of the girls. I then walked in a fashion show that my dress sponsor, the Crowning Touch was featured in. The other states that they sponsor also walked in the fashion show. It was nice to see what the most recent gowns were and what is currently in style. After the fashion show with the Crowning Touch, I got my makeup done by the artists with Rain Cosmetics for the Fashion Rocks event that I had randomly gotten selected for the night prior! I absolutely loved the cosmetics line because it was so natural and felt very light on my skin! The expo was so much fun and I even bought a cute little cocktail dress made by Tony Bowls!

Considering my graduation date was approaching quickly, I could not fly out to Las Vegas until the Friday before the telecast of Miss USA. However, I left early Friday morning to be sure to get to Vegas for all the events that the Miss Universe Organization had planned for the teen state titleholders. When I arrived at the airport, my wonderful dress sponsor from the Crowning Touch, Maria, was on the same flight as us! It was nice to talk with her and talk about my preparations for Miss Teen USA. After a long 6 hour flight from Providence to Las Vegas, I met up with one of my sister states and her family, Miss Vermont Teen USA, Shelby Gregoire. They had been there for a week already so we all went to lunch and they showed us around Planet Hollywood. That night all the teens that were currently there, gathered for a group photograph in front of the Planet Hollywood and Miss USA 2010 sign. From that point we went into one of the conference rooms to have a "meet and greet" with the other teens. I had met several girls at the Standout Productions; however, it was so great to finally meet the others! Everyone is so beautiful and so welcoming! On top of that, we even got to meet Stormi and speak with her briefly. She looked absolutely fabulous and spoke about her experience at Miss USA last year. After meeting all the other wonderful contestants, Shelby (Miss Vermont Teen USA, her parents, Emma (Miss California Teen USA), her mom and aunt, and my mom and I went to grab dinner! Our dinner was nice and relaxing and it was so great to catch up with Emma seeing as I hadn't seen her since Standout. The first day was a great one, and wait until you all see all the other beautiful girls!

Start! Heart Walk!

Last Saturday, Massachusetts was lucky to have a beautiful May day! The sun was shining and there was not a cloud in the sky. I was fortunate to spend the course of my day at a wonderful event known as the Central Massachusetts Heart Walk for the American Heart Association. I attended this event with Mrs. Massachusetts, Jane Marshall. The walk was an incredible and inspiring one and consisted of several thousands of participants. I was informed that UMASS Medical has 1,500 walkers of their own! Jane and I chose to take part in the walk and I was so glad that we did so. While she and I were walking we become acquainted with a kind young man named Matthew. He was only 9 years old and suffered from Severe Pulmonary Stenosis and Atrial Septal Defect. He was so kind and so excited to be there. I was so thrilled to see him walking and hear about his story. It is stories like his that truly touch your heart. I thought it was so great seeing how many people took part in the walk to raise money for the American Heart Association. Walking around I was able to see all the different shirts for families walking for someone close to their heart, and hospitals walking as a group. It was the perfect day for such a wonderful cause! Thank you for making me a part of it!

Community Service Team Gets a Gold!

As many of you have read, this year I have been an ambassador to my school's SkillsUSA Community Service team, "Together WE CAN (Cancer Awareness Network)". It has been a pleasure of mine to take the responsibility of bringing awareness to the cause. I feel honored to get involved in their inspiring program so I too can spread the message and express to others the importance of early detection. Being able to participate in charity events, fundraisers, and walks with the members of the team, Erica Poirier, Lacey O'Neil, Beth Belanger, and their advisor, Rosemary Quirk, has opened my eyes and made me realize if more people can get involved then maybe one day we CAN put an end to this epidemic. However, I am very pleased to announce that over the weekend the Community Service Team participated in the SkillsUSA State Competition. They did a phenomenal job and received a gold medal for all their generosity, hard work, and commitment. They will be competing nationally in June! Congratulations to the Together We CAN Team! I am so proud!!

On April 25th, several of the Miss state titleholders in New England held a sendoff. The sendoff was a fashion show featuring Bless by Bless clothing in support of breast cancer awareness for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. It was a great way to kick off the start of an amazing journey at Miss USA for four lovely ladies: Miss Connecticut USA, Miss New Hampshire USA, Miss Vermont USA, and Miss Rhode Island USA. The fashion show featured all four of the girls that were headed to Vegas as well as Miss Rhode Island Teen USA, Erica Wright and Miss Vermont Teen USA, Shelby Gregoire. The theme was interesting because it was "rocker chick" meet "fashionista." I had a wonderful time being able to catch up with my sister states, Vermont and Connecticut as well as reconnect with my friends from Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Not to mention, I was able to see some of my pageant family! Good luck to the New England girls as well as the rest of the Miss State Titleholders competing at Miss USA in Las Vegas, live from Planet Hollywood on May 16th! I wish you all the best of luck!

Hola! Greetings from Mexico!

Hola! Bienvenidos! I spent the past week in Mexico with my wonderful family for my spring vacation. We have a timeshare in Cancun and are so fortunate because it is such a beautiful destination. I was able to visit some wonderful beaches like Islas Mujeres, Playa Del Carmen, and Cozumel. If that isn't enough I got my historical lesson for the week at the Tulum Ruins and Chichen Itza. I even got over my fear and jumped out of an airplane to skydive over the Cancun coastline. It was such a relaxing week and I was so happy to spend it with the people I love most. Considering Teen USA is only a short three months away, I was sure to eat healthy and workout daily. My typical morning consisted of my dad waking me up to go for a run down the beach, then I would go play basketball or ride bikes with my little brother, go to the gym for 30 minutes then sit in the sauna! Although I was busy, it felt great to work so hard! I am heading back home to Boston today filled with some great memories! Back to work tomorrow!

Lacey's Sendoff for Miss USA!

On Sunday, April 11th Lacey Wilson, Miss Massachusetts USA held a SendOff Party at the Foundation Lounge as she gets ready to take off for Vegas to compete at Miss USA! It was so exciting to see everyone support her and see how wonderful she looked. In attendance were family, friends, and fans. It was great to catch up with our directors as well as the rest of the Clemente family. Lacey held a raffle in which all proceeds were going to go towards the Hyannis Port Best Buddies Challenge. I can not believe it is already time for her to leave for Miss USA! I was so upset because I am use to seeing Lace a couple of times a week. I am leaving for Mexico and won't see her until she is on stage at Miss USA. So I created a scrapbook for her filled with memories from our crowning, appearances, and events. I also included some of her closest friends and family in it. I wanted to create something for her to know that we are all supporting her back here in Massachusetts and how much she has affected all of our lives. She is the best sister queen out there and I am so incredibly proud of her. The night was so much fun and was so happy to see everyone together one last time before Lacey takes off to Vegas. Hey Everyone!

I hope all is well. On June 5, 2010 I will be participating in a 100-mile road bike ride in the Best Buddies Hyannis Port Challenge. The Best Buddies is an incredible foundation dedicated to improving and touching the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They provide the individuals with lifelong friendships, opportunity for employment, and leadership roles.

Throughout my reign a Miss Massachusetts Teen USA, I have been so fortunate to work with remarkable organizations that touch the lives of others and improve their lifestyles one stepping-stone at a time. It has been such an honor to do so and is truly one of the greatest gifts I will ever receive. One of the great foundations I have volunteered my time with is Best Buddies through their Massachusetts Chapter. I have always wanted to take part in the Hyannis Port Challenge, which is a fundraiser, and event that does significantly impact and support the Best Buddies Foundations, and I now have my chance to make a difference. After all, the Hyannis Port Challenge is located right in my home state, Massachusetts!

I joined the Miss Teen USA Team that the current Miss Teen USA, Stormi Henley, established. I will ride alongside Stormi! I think it is going to be a challenging yet life-altering experience that will reunite some of the teens in the area for an extraordinary cause.

I plan to ride all 100-miles. It is my goal and I am going to work very hard at it in order to achieve that goal. I think it is important to show the world that through perseverance and integrity, you can achieve anything you set you mind to. As a former Best Buddy participant, Eric Mattes, once said, “I want to show the world that even though I have a disability, I can do anything I put my mind to.”

I hope that many of you will be there alongside me- whether it is through a donation or cheering me on along the sidelines. I want to make a difference in others lives through Best Buddies and plan to do so by participating in the Hyannis Port Challenge. I am hoping and praying that after reading this you will be willing to donate and sponsor me in my efforts to raise money for the Hyannis Port Challenge. On the evening of April Fools I attended a Young Survival Coalition Fundraiser held in Boston. The fundraiser was held by an Emerson College student, Michelle Nigro. Joining me was Mrs. Massachusetts, Miss Massachusetts USA, and Miss Delaware. Julie was is the city for the night so it was great that she was able to attend. It was so nice to catch up with her, as always, she looked fabulous. The fundraiser was to support the Young Survival Coalition for breast cancer awareness. It was so great because the majority of people in attendance were wearing pink. The evening was much like a mixer, filled with dancing and karaoke. Pink Rink Lowell Devil's Game

On Sunday, March 28th, I attended the Lowell Devil's AHL Hockey Game. The evening was "Ladies Night with the Lowell Devils" and it was sponsored by the Mary Kay Foundation. One thing I learned that I did not know before was that the Mary Kay Foundation is in support of cancer research and domestic violence against women. I attended the event with Mrs. Massachusetts, Jane Marshall and Mrs. Rhode Island, as well as Miss Massachusetts National Miss. It was a great afternoon. Our make-up was done by Tricia with the Mary Kay Foundation. She used all "gel colors" for the spring. I loved the way she did my make-up it was very natural. She even wanted me to talk at a seminar she is having in a few weeks. We later sold "pink" apparel. My favorite was most definitely the pink hockey punks. Not only did it go perfect with the theme for the day but all proceeds went to a great foundation. It was nice considering each of us have our own platform for the year. We were able to share those with the public, gain support, and network ourselves. It was so wonderful to see how many people were there supporting such a great cause. I also really enjoyed how they made the afternoon very family involved. I was thrilled to be a part of the evening and met some wonderful people along the way. I think it is scary the amount of individuals who are affected by cancer. Whenever there are event that you can attend to support cancer awareness and cancer research, I think it is important to make yourself a part of them.

Chamber of Commerce Business Expo

On March 27th, I attended the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce Business and Energy Expo which was held at the high school that I attend, Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School. The afternoon was filled with over 80 exhibitors and over 2,000 attendees. It is a lot of fun because the purpose of the expo is about the business community giving back to the entire area. It is a great event with excellent support from sponsors. I think it is a great way to kick off spring and offer great discounts and deals! I was excited to be a part of the afternoon as Miss Massachusetts Teen USA because last year I was one of the exhibitors. Since I was a part of a National Entrepreneurship Team, "EN-V", the three other teammates and I were asked to set up a station with our products as well as talk to a local radio station about the purpose of "EN-V" and the world behind "Teens for Green." Although the sales were great last year, I was happy to volunteer at the event and take photographs for all the local businesses. I met some wonderful new friends and reconnected with old ones!

Best Buddies Friendship Relay

Lacey and I volunteered at our absolute favorite organization of them all, the Best Buddies Foundation. This is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Lace and I spent the afternoon taking part in the Friendship Relay. There were awards given for buddies who raised the most amount of money for the organization. The foundation and I decided that the team that raised the most amount of money would be awarded with a pizza party set up by me (which I can not wait for)! The day was filled with activities, obstacles, and relays. It was so much fun to be a part of it. I
met two new buddies, two that are very close to my heart: Tom and Jillian. I let Jillian wear my crown and sash and she loved it! She was such a sweetheart and there was never a dull moment with her. I turned my head for a brief moment and Jillian had taken off with my crown and sash! Later I came across her, still wearing my crown and sash, break dancing with a New England Patriots player! She was hysterical and so loving. Then there was Tom, who opened up the afternoon with a speech he had written. I was so proud and amazed at how well spoken and intelligent he was. The Best Buddies Foundation is something I feel strongly about and love supporting. It is a foundation like no other. I have never met individuals who have been so kind and so appreciative. Whenever I attend an event with this organization, I don't want to leave. And when I do have to leave, I have the largest grin on my face. They always touch my heart. Due to the wonderful time I had, I will now be taking part in the Audi Best Buddies Hyannis Port Challenge! It is a 100-mile bike ride from Boston to Cape Cod. FaceAfrica Gala

On March 20, I was asked to be a special guest at the Face Africa 1st Annual Gala at the Taj Boston along with my beautiful sister queen, Lacey Wilson, and Miss Connecticut USA, Ashley Bickford. The evening with over 200 guests was a clean water benefit held to raise awareness for the organization's clean water initiatives in Liberia. The evening was kicked off with a silent auction with items that were generously donated by Marc Jacobs, Cynthia Rowley, David Yurman, American Airlines, and the New England Patriots. The evening included a remark from Honorary Chair M. Nathaniel Barnes, the Ambassador of Liberia to the United States who congratulated all attendees for being agents of change by supporting FACE Africa and a statement from Gala Co-Chair Mr. Dikembe Mutombo, former NBA Allstar and Founder of the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation which works to improve the health, education and quality of life for the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Following Mr. Mutombo’s remark was a Keynote Address by Mr. Kevin McGovern, Chairman of the Water Initiative and Chairman and CEO of McGovern Capital. The program concluded with a statement from Gala Chair, Ms. Heather Herndon and a moving testament from Tito Jackson, Political Director for Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s Campaign who also presented Ms. Kaba Jones with a Citation from Governor Patrick. The event was wonderful and I learned a lot which was even better. It was so great to get involved in an awareness like this one. SkillsUSA Community Service Team

I teamed up with my high school, Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School's SkillsUSA Community Service Team "Together We Can" to attend Boston Children's Hospital. The advisor, Mrs. RoseMary Quirk, two team members, Erica Poirier and Beth Belanger, and myself all went to spend the afternoon at the Children's Hospital in Boston Massachusetts. Prior to doing so, the community service team, had been busy selling "cancer awareness" bracelets, planning fundraisers, events, and scholarships, and collecting books. They have been doing a phenomenal job reaching out to the community to support cancer awareness and cancer research. The team raised over 450 children's books for the oncology department. As an ambassador for their message, they asked me to bring the books with them to present it to the Children's Hospital. I was honored to be a part of that afternoon. When we arrived to the Children's Hospital, I actually was fortunate enough to bump into a few individuals that I had been acquainted with at the Special Olympics Winter Games. I was also introduced to several young children who were suffering from Leukemia. I tried to do my best to put a smile on their faces. One young man, who was only four, had been undergoing treatment for several weeks. When he asked to take a picture with me I looked at him and said "Never stop believing. Keep Dreaming, and dream big." He just smiled and gave me a hug. It was so great to see what the community service team does and be a part of it. I understand why they are so passionate about their topic for the year. It is something I too am passionate about. I feel so blessed to be able to spread their message, "together we can." I am so very proud of the entire Community Service team. It is so wonderful to see people who want to reach out to the community and give back in every way they can. Special Olympics Dance

After I spend the day at the Special Olympics Winter Games, I got ready for an evening of fun with the participants! Miss Vermont USA (Nydelis Ortiz), Miss Vermont Teen USA (Shelby Gregoire), Miss Connecticut USA (Ashley Bickford), and myself all attended the Olympic Town and Dance in Worcester Massachusetts at Mechanics Hall. The evening was kicked off with the athletes mingling, getting their face painted, and having fun. As state titleholders we were given the options to sign autographs or spend some time with the crowd. Although we did sign some autographs, we wanted to make the most of the night and felt it was more rewarding to get to know each of them. After signing autographs we went upstairs to the dance portion of the evening. It was so much fun! We got the opportunity to get professional pictures taken (much like they do at prom) with the athletes. After we spent the evening getting boogying! It was a great time. I had so much fun dancing with everyone and getting to know everyone. They all truly touched my heart. One young man wanted to wear my sash and go on stage; however, the security would not let him. So I asked them politely if we could dance on the stage for a little while and to my surprise, they let us! He and I went on stage and were dancing. However, while I was bringing him up in front of everyone, I was awarded a standing ovation. Then the kind young man grabbed the microphone and said "She changed my life. I love her. Thank you." It was so sweet and brought tears to my eyes. I felt that I did impact someone's life and it was a feeling like no other, one that I will never forget. I also was given a few notes that some of the athletes wrote out quickly and several emails. Since then I have been in contact with many of them. It was a night I will always remember!

Special Olympics Sporting Events

During the weekend of March 13 and 14, I was given the opportunity to work closely with the Special Olympics of Massachusetts Organization. The Special Olympics brings the best of sports to people with intellectual disabilities worldwide through fundamental principles of dignity and equality. Their message to the community is: people with intellectual disabilities can and will succeed if given the opportunity. It was a great experience to be acquainted with such wonderful individuals with hearts of gold. I loved getting to know everyone and hearing each unique story of theirs, all so very endearing. I was so amazed with each of the athletes and the determination and ambitions they had in life. It was such a breath of fresh air to see the dreams they all had. I traveled to several schools throughout the Worcester Area to help host some of the games and hand out the medals of the winners. I went to Clark University, Holy Cross, Assumption College, Worcester Academy, and Worcester Vocational High School. The Special Olympics were held at those schools, each hosting a different event. I went to the basketball games, floor hockey games, and bowling. My favorite of course, since I play the sport, was basketball! I met some wonderful individuals as the games. They were so caring and wholehearted. It was heart-touching because everyone was there excited to play their games and would see me and some would even run off the court to say hello and give me a hug! I have never felt so appreciated in my entire life. And I knew that at that moment, that was exactly where I was meant to be. I realized how passionate I was about impacting others lives and making a difference. While I was going around introducing myself to some of the athletes, one girl named Melissa came up to me and said, "Your so pretty. I want to look just like you. I want to be you. My dream is to be Miss Massachusetts Teen USA." So, before I even said anything I took off my sash and put it around her. Then I looked at her and held her hand and said, "You are more beautiful than you could ever imagine. You will be Miss Massachusetts Teen USA one day!" She gave me a hug and said, "Thank you, you mean a lot to me. I will never forget you." I can say this much, I will never forget her either. She touched my heart that day. I loved every minute of being a part of the weekend and being able to award the athletes for their wonderful accomplishments. It is a weekend that remains close to my heart. I will never for it. It was great to be able to help these individuals achieve greater things, on and off the field; in turn, they inspire.

On Thursday, March 11, I celebrated my 18th Birthday! My parents surprised me by taking me to one of my all time favorite steakhouses in Boston, Ruth's Chris! It was so great! I felt so fortunate to be able to spend the evening with the three people I love most- my dad, my mom, and my little brother, Brett. They have done nothing but support me, care for me, and love me for the past 18 years. They have taught me the importance of hard work and dedication and the importance of always following your heart. My parents gave me the map through the journey of life and told me to talk if I ever got lost. I want to thank them for valuing the hard work that paved the road to today. Their an important part of my life and I was so grateful to have all of us together on my birthday. I also came home that night to about 200 Facebook posts! They were birthday wishes from family, friends, teachers, acquaintances, and supporters. The posts were something that made my night. Thank you everyone for the kind words and wishes. I appreciate you following me and supporting me through it all. So, Happy 18th Birthday to me! It was a wonderful day, and can't wait for what it has in stock for me!

Freezing Fun Softball Charity Tournament

I had a great weekend last week! My mom and I drove up to Barre, Vermont to take part in a Winter Softball Tournament! My dad sponsored a team for us called the "Royals" which consisted of Mrs. Vermont, Miss Vermont USA, Miss Vermont Teen USA, and myself. Freezing Fun For Families is the Worlds Largest Snow Softball Tournament. We played to support and raise money for Vermont families who have a child battling a life threatening illness. This years beneficiary is 8 year old Katie Grant of Williamstown, VT. She was diagnosed in July of 2008 with CML Leukemia. She needs to have a bone marrow done very soon;however, due to Katie's current living arrangements the hospital is unable to perform the much needed transplant until Katie can have a room of her own. This is due to her immune system being greatly depleted following the surgery. Through a generous contribution from Fecteau Homes, the proceeds from the event were able toprovide Katie and her family with a new home following her surgery. I felt so honored to have met the young girl, Katie. She was so kind and loving with such a heart of gold. I felt that there was no other place I wanted to be at that point except there. I am so thrilled to have been a part of this wonderful tournament and highly encourage it for next year.

LuLu Lemon Show & Miss Fit Kickoff

I had such a fun night at the Launch Party for our trainer, Katie Boyd's new gym, Miss Fit. Not only was I able to see the entire pageant family there but I also got to do a runway show for LuLu Lemon- which for the record, is my favorite workout line! I love their yoga pants! The Launch Party was a kickoff for the opening of my amazing trainers new gym. The event took place at Bond in Boston, Massachusetts. The evening highlighted a fashion show that featured LuLulemon Athletica wear. I was fortunate to be one of the models for the show along with Nydelis (Miss Vermont USA), Shelby (Miss Vermont Teen USA), Ashley (Miss Connecticut USA), Nicole (Miss New Hampshire USA), and Lacey (Miss Massachusetts USA). Our hair was done all fun and crazy by Hair Creations by our wonderful stylist Neil Gannon of Le Tete Salon. Also, to go along with the "Pink" Theme of Katie's gym, the make-up artist used all pink eye liner, eye shadow, and lipstick on us! We were all joking and saying we felt like work-out barbies! All the donations were made to the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance of UMass Medical, which I think is wonderful in support of a great cause. Some of the great sponsors included La Tete Salon, Make up by Jaqueline Vokey, Nu Skin, Jean Jewels, Stoli Elite Vodka, Kuerig Coffee, The Crowning Touch. The night was fun and exciting and I got to spend it with some of the people that are so close to my heart. A special thanks also goes out to Monica Pietrzak and Natalie Pietrzak for organizing the entire evening. You both are so talented and did a wonderful job. Also, to Katie Boyd of course! Without her hard work and determination none of it would have even been possible. She is such a great lady with a wonderful heart, and a talented and amazing trainer. It was truly an evening I will never forget.

Superintendent's Dinner

Thursday, March 4 was the annual Superintendent’s Dinner that the school I attend, Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School holds in honor of our Superintendent, Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick. Four students from the school’s SkillsUSA Chapter and myself spent the evening volunteering and selling raffle tickets. I was so happy that Barbara King asked me to be a part of the night because not only was I able to share something I have a passion for with my school but because I also had received a national medal last year for SkillsUSA. I competed in Entrepreneurship at the state level and won the gold medal, furthering to SkillsUSA Nationals held in Kansas City, MO. There I competed once again in Entrepreneurship, which entailed having a legitimate product and business, a 60-page business plan, a presentation, and a challenge question. After I was given a challenge question, which actually involved the current state of the economy and marketing strategies, I had to re-present. Myself along with my three other teammates placed and received a National Bronze Medal! It was so exciting! So when I was asked to be a part of the Superintendents Dinner, I was thrilled. I also got to reconnect with people I have met throughout the course of my reign as Miss Massachusetts Teen USA. I was able to see Senator Moore and lovely wife, Joanne and catch up with them a bit. I had a great time and was thrilled to be able to share my passion of my title with the school that established whom I am today.

Face Off for Ace Bailey Foundation

On Wednesday, March 3rd, I attended an event that was held for the Ace Bailey Foundation, which is a foundation established by former NHL Player, Ace Bailey’s family, for …. Ace Bailey lost his life during the horrific accidents that occurred on September 11, 2001. Rest in Peace Ace Bailey, you seemed to be a wonderful and talented individual. It was such a superb event to have the opportunity to be a part of and I think it is so great that his family put together such a remarkable and life altering charity in his name. My dad came along with me to the event, Face Off for Ace. He was so excited to meet several renowned and hall-a-famer NHL players, one that included Wayne Gretzky. I have to admit, meeting him and getting to know him a little better was definitely a highlight to my evening! I come from a family that is very “hockey-involved or oriented” and my sister queens dad, Doug Wilson, was also an NHL player, so being a part of a hockey event like this one was so exciting for me. Wayne Gretzky was a good friend of Ace Bailey’s and was the keynote speaker for the night. It was such a breath of fresh air to me to see him there supporting a good cause, honoring his beloved friend, and helping his family rather than for fame or recognition. I had the opportunity to speak with him personally and even got an autograph! He even gave me some advice that I will forever take with me. But he was so genuine and wholehearted and I can completely understand why is referred to as the “Great One”. The evening had a wonderful turn out and had over 400 people attend. There were numerous silent auctions- my favorite being the round trip Jet Blue airline tickets to anywhere in the world, which I had the privilege of giving out. I was so honored to be a part of the Face Off for Ace event and am so thankful I was given that opportunity. In my heart and prayers always.

Women's Club and Rotary Club

I received a phone call recently from Joanne Moore who is president of the Women’s Club of Uxbridge, asking me to attend an event that was being held in my hometown, Uxbridge. The event was a chocolate tasting evening for the Women’s Club of Uxbridge and the Rotary Club. I couldn’t wait to be a part of it because my weakness is most definitely chocolate- I mean who’s is it not! There were chocolate distributers, factory owners, and makers there selling anything from fudge to fried strawberry chocolate covered Oreos (which for the record, are my favorite)! A few of the individuals who made chocolate offered to attend my sendoff before Miss Teen USA and make some goodies, which I thought was so kind. I was able to meet so many wonderful individuals from the Women’s Club as well as the Rotary Club. Joanne’s husband is actually Senator Richard Moore. He is a wonderful man and is very involved in the activities throughout my school. Last year I was honored to attend a Luncheon with him and Governor Deval Patrick, so it was great to reconnect with him during the course of the evening. He even wrote me a personalized letter prior to it and had it mailed to my school to congratulate me for all my community service hours, academic awards, athletic accomplishments, and awards received throughout my school year. I was honored to receive that letter and have his wife Joanne, call me only a few short weeks later. I also had a wonderful event and I am so thankful they asked me to be a part of it!

American Idol Star

Lately things have been so crazy and busy- so many events and so much traveling. But I have to admit, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love every second of it. I flew down to Lynchburg, Virginia on Saturday, February 27, 2010 to attend a concert that AT Dunn and Chelsea Cooley were producing for the Master's Inn. All the proceeds were for the Masters Inn which is an independent non-profit ministry that is designed to reach children, youth, and adults for Jesus Christ through Christian camping and outdoor recreation. The Standout Productions Retreat that Chelsea and AT held was located at the Master's Inn. It is such a wonderful place that really makes you look at life from an entirely different perspective and helps you find YOU and your beliefs. The owner, Jim Sanders, is such a genuine, whole-hearted, caring man. He made everyone feel right at home. When AT and Chelsea informed me of this concert that was being held, I was so excited- little did I know that it was the former American Idol winner, Ruben Studdard, performing! That was my favorite season of American Idol and I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to watch him perform and interact with him. I was very fortunate when I was given front row seats too! He was such a wonderful performer with a great talent. It is so nice to see him putting his talent to use by reaching out to others. His music and lyrics were truly like no other- so inspirational. What I found to be nice was that not only was he this gifted American Idol singer, but he was also a wonderful guy. Ruben was so kind and so nice when I was lucky enough to meet him. You could just tell that he has a passion for doing what he does. When he went out to sign autographs, it was great to see the crowd he brought in. I am so happy for him and wish him the very best in the future. The trip was a short one- only a day to be exact; however, I had a great time. The concert was a success and I was so thrilled to see AT and Chelsea and catch up with them a little. They are wonderful and kind people and will do anything to help others. Those are the people we need to look up to.

A Show for A Wonderful Sponosor, Richard Berberian

I had a wonderful time at a fashion show for one of the Miss Massachusetts USA and Teen USA sponsors, Richard Berberian. He is our jewelry sponsor from Elyse Jewelers and all of his items are so beautiful. Richard works with the Clemente Productions girls (Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont) periodically throughout the course of our reign. I always get excited to be a part of Richard's events because he is so kind and dresses me up in diamonds. And yes it's true, "Diamonds are a girls best friend!"He and designer Samuel Vartan teamed up and put on a fashion show for the Fashionably Late nights that Liberty Hotel produces. It is located at the perfect location because Liberty Hotel is located in the midst of Beacon Hill. The designer was showcasing all of his Summer 2010 lines and the clothes were all so exquisite! Myself and the other models each wore three different outfits. My favorite was a cheetah print dress that you would more than likely wear over a swimsuit. It was so unique! I had such an enjoyable and exciting time because I got to meet a lot of new faces as well as be a part of the show with several of my sister queens! Ashley Bickford (Miss Connecticut USA), Kristina Primavera (Miss Rhode Island USA), Lacey Wilson (Miss Massachusetts USA), and Erica Wright (Miss Rhode Island Teen USA). It was so great to see Erica and Kristina because I hadn't seen either of them since we were in Virginia for the Standout Productions Retreat held by Trainer and Nutrionist AT Dunn and former Miss USA Chelsea Cooley. The Clemente crew also came to support us at the Fashionably Late show for Richard Berberian and Samuel Vartan. I was so thrilled to see my wonderful directors Laurie and Anthony, trainer Katie, stylist Neil, and pageant friends! I couldn't have asked for a better night!

New York Fashion Week

Lacey and I ventured off to New York City to partake in New York City Fashion Week. The funny thing is, the day we arrived in New York was the day they received their biggest blizzard of the year! They had a total of 12-18 inches that night! It was soo cold but really set the town for fashion week in the midst of winter! My mom tagged along with her and I and we made a wonderful weekend out of it. Not only was that the time where the most renowned designers were showcasing their lines, but it was also Lacey's birthday! My mom and I took her and her boyfriend, Aaron, out to a birthday dinner at BLT (which I have to admit, is an amazing NYC Steakhouse!) - They had really great lobster too! My mom and I wanted to be sure that we got to fit a broadway show into our schedule. Ironically, we are in New York so often, yet we have never gone to a show. So we finally went to go see Chicago! It was such an amazing show. I find it so intriguing how beautiful the cast members can sing and dance. It's such a gift and you can see the passion they have for it on that stage. I really enjoyed that! Aside from all the fun, it was very busy non-stop with rehearsals, fittings, castings, and meetings! I was so fortunate to spend the weekend with my very best friend, my mom, and my amazing sister queen, Lacey. Fashion Week was a lot of work but I had the time of my life and can't wait for next season!

Teamwork Pays Off

It saddens me to say, that basketball is almost coming to an end for me. The other night I had my “Senior Night” in which all the seniors are announced and honored for their hard work and dedication. It was actually an emotional night for me. I have been playing basketball since I entered the third grade. I started at the generic house league teams, moved on to the middle school travel teams, played on the Junior High School team and later the local AAU Team, and then played on the Varsity Basketball Team at my school since my freshman year. It is something I have always had a passion for. I enjoyed going out on the basketball court. It was a rush hearing the fans screaming and the opponents booing. I loved having all eyes on me when I took a shot. And I loved being the captain of such a supportive and talented group of young girls: each of us so unique and different, yet with many similar views and values in life; one being, the love of the game. Considering our Senior Night just recently took place, I want to just take a second to give recognition to the seniors that joined me on that night. Tesia Stanesak, my co captain and one of my very best friends, is the only other senior who has been playing at the varsity level the same number of years I have. We have grown up playing together in high school. She is a point guard. Then there is Courtney Provencher, my other co captain. Courtney has been playing on the varsity level for three years, last year she was also awarded as being an all-star player for her hard work on the team throughout the year. She is a forward. Diana Smith, is a three-year varsity player power forward who actually happens to be one of the most aggressive players on the playing court. Lorain McKinney, our shooting guard and a two-year varsity player who transferred from Milbury High School. Lorain is the most determined individual and is not afraid to take the ball to the hoop. And last but not least, Jessica Jones, whom has been playing on the Varsity team for two years. She shows great support and spirit towards our team. She is a joy to have and really knows how to brighten the day when we are down. Thank you to all the seniors. As for the rest of the team, you girls have been a huge part of my life. Thank you for supporting me and being my backbone. You all are going far in life and I can’t wait to be there to support you. Now that our regular season games are over, we are off to Districts. Lets show them what a team is all about. Lets take it to them. Lets win it all ladies.

Habitat for Humanity

A recent press release said, "There was beauty, brains, and brawn present at the Bedford Habitat for Humanity site Saturday morning as a mostly all-women group, went to work on the second half of the old farmhouse that is the anchor structure at the site. Leading the charge were four New England beauty queens: Mrs. Massachusetts International 2010 Jane Marshall, who organized the group, Miss Massachusetts USA 2010 Lacey Wilson, Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2010 Brooke Bibeault, and Miss Connecticut USA 2010 Ashley Bickford." On Saturday, February 6, Lace, Jane, Ash, and myself reached out to the community by taking part in a Habitat for Humanity project in Bedford, Massachusetts. The morning started out freezing considering we are in New England in the middle of winter! However, we were all bundled up and ready to work. Habitat for Humanity is the largest private builder in the world. A faith-based organization, their mission is to provide access to decent, affordable housing for all. Everyone that volunteers with this organization was so wonderful. They were great people and very personable. It made the experience so enjoyable.Jane, Lacey, and I were all brought down to the basement to dig a trench for where the home's washer, dryer, and bathroom would be located. The trench had to be about for feet deep and six feet long. Lacey and I have most definitely gone out of our comfort zone these past few weeks, whether is climbing up a telephone pole or this, we have had some new experiences. We started off looking at the pile of mud thinking, "oh gosh, how are we ever going to do this!" The dirt was first solid rock and frozen, then transformed to mud. Go figure! But it made the experience just that much more fun. Not only were we doing something to really change the life of someone else but we were doing it with people we love. Like they always say, "home is where the heart is."

Standout Productions

This past weekend I set off to Lynchburg, Virginia to Standout Productions. This is a retreat held by former Miss USA, Chelsea Cooley, and renowned fitness trainer and public speaker, AT Dunn. It is an annual retreat for current state titleholders to help prepare you for nationals and meet the other girls. There are seminars, activities, and meetings that truly do prepare you for your next big race, which in my case is Miss Teen USA. However, for me it was more than just receiving the preparation I needed for Miss Teen USA. It also taught me about myself and my beliefs and morals. It truly is a very beneficial experience and one that will change your life forever. I think it teaches you so much about the importance of self-confidence, respect, trust, determination, and believing in your inner-self.

On Friday, Alyssa Taglia (Miss Connecticut Teen USA) and myself flew down to Lynchburg. At the airport we met up with Kristina Primavera and Erica Wright (Miss Rhode Island USA and Miss Rhode Island Teen USA). It was so nice to travel with all of them. I knew Erica prior because for several years her and I have had the same hair stylist. As we arrived and Charlotte, North Carolina, Alyssa and I came across a store with a sign that read "Queen City." It all began feeling real.

We arrived at the camp, The Master's Inn, earlier than most of the other titleholders. The camp we were staying at was absolutely beautiful. Everyone at the camp was so generous and kind and I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to meet those wonderful people. Within the couple of hours my roommates began to arrive! I roomed with Delaware, Mississippi, and California! They were all so wonderful and I was so happy to get to know those girls. In fact, there is a great possibility Emma Baker (California) and I will be rooming together at Teen USA! I loved all of them!

Throughout the duration of four days we were given the opportunity to listen to informational seminars, inspiring speeches, and receive advice regarding how to stay mentally and emotionally tough throughout the Miss Teen USA journey. Chelsea helped us master our interviewing and walking skills and AT spoke with us about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and ways to do so as well as his training techniques. Activities to help us gain confidence, trust, and determination included roller-hockey, rock climbing, zip-lining, paint balling, tubing, snowboarding, skiing, and horseback riding. We climbed up a telephone pole and took our leap of faith onto a trapeze that dangled in midair! Although I can say I am not afraid of heights, I feared my life climbing up that pole and later jumping off it; however, with the support of everyone it made me feel unstoppable. After I did so, I felt I could conquer any fear.

The weekend was something I never imagined it to be. Not only did I learn so much about other people but also about myself. It is amazing to me that everyone is so similar yet so completely different. It's really a unique and beautiful thing. Chelsea Cooley and AT Dunn were phenomenal and amazing and inspiring individuals. I love all the girls I was fortunate enough to meet and can not wait to see them all at Miss USA when cheering on our sister queens! Thank you to everyone who made the weekend so enjoyable! "Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of"

Two simple words, New York! I traveled to New York City in order to shoot with the renowned photographer, Fadil Berisha. He is the official photographer for the Miss Universe Organization. He works with Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA. He is also a famous fashion photographer whose resume includes Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Nordstrom's, Rolex, and many more. His editorial work has appeared nationally and internationally in magazines such as Elle, Vogue, Seventeen, Peoples Magazine, YM, Mademoiselle, and more. He even photographed the "50 Most Beautiful" of People Magazine. It has always been my dream to shoot with him and I finally got the opportunity to!

I took the train in bright and early to be there for my 11 a.m. photo shoot. When I got there I was fortunate enough to meet a former Miss Oklahoma USA (Laci Scott), the current Miss Universe, as well the the current Miss Teen USA. It was so exciting to see them! They were shooting for the Sherri Hill catalog. Fortunate for me, I was also able to meet Sherri Hill. I was so excited because I have always loved her collection. I had previously talked with my mom about having her design a gown for me for when I compete at Miss Teen USA. Considering she was there, I was able to speak with her about that. She was such a doll and so kind and let me wear her dresses for the photo shoot. She even asked if she could use some of the photographs for her catalog! I couldn't believe it! I was so lucky and honored to have been asked that and given that opportunity.

I had a wonderful day in New York City and was so happy to have spent it shooting with Fadil. He is so great to shoot with and made it such an enjoyable experience. Thank you Fadil and Sherri Hill!

There Is No I in Team

On Friday, January 15, 2010, the Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High Schools Girl's and Boy's Varsity Basketball Teams will have a double header game against Assabet Valley, which happens to be our schools rival. Games were scheduled on the same night at our home court in order to honor two very important individuals, Mr. Ed Waters (Varsity Coach, Staff Member, and a huge part of VT) and Chad Holbrook ("A Shining Star, an All-Star, and a Shooting Star"). It is a cancer awareness game as well as a game to retire #5's jersey that will continue to be in our hearts everyday. Rest in peace, my thoughts and prayers go out to their families and friends everyday.
In the four years that I have been playing on the BVT Varsity Basketball team, our rival, Assabet, had always given us a run for our money. Every year, they were that team that we feared playing. They have great talent and ambitious girls. They are fast, They can shoot, and they want to win. Every year they have been CAL (Colonial Athletic League) Champions. This year, we hope to change that. In the past four years, although the team remained relatively the same, our coaches varied. All were very greatcoaches; however, they each had a different method of coaching... one that we have to adapt to every time. I am proud of my team for coming as far as we have come. We have qualified for districts, the rest of the season depends on the seed we will be at districts. I just want to let all the girls know, how enthusiastic I am about the rest of the season and how honored I am to have had the opportunity to play with such a great group of young ladies. I also want our new coach, Mr. John Ryding, to know that he has shaped us into an entirely new team. A team that has potential to do very well. Wish us luck on our game tonight!

"Flutie Bowl"

On Monday, January 11 2010, Lacey and I volunteered at the "Flutie Bowl" at Lucky Strike Lanes in Boston, right next to Fenway Park! The Flutie Bowl was a fundraiser event for the Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism. We had a wonderful time being a part of it that night and were so enthusiastic to do whatever we could for them.

My mom, who happens to be my very best friend, came as our chaperone. She was so sweet and enjoyed taking our pictures and talking with people. Lacey and I sold a ton of raffle tickets and over 400 balloons each valued at $20.00 to go toward the Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism.

We were interviewed by "Dirty Water TV" as well as "Fox 25 News." Be sure to check out the Improper Bostonian in an upcoming issue for a segment on the "Flutie Bowl" as well as what Lacey and I did to get involved. In addition, Lacey and I were fortunate enough to meet local celebrities in the Boston Area. We met the New England Patriots Football Team as well as some of the Boston Red Sox. We took several photographs with the athletes, and the funny thing about it is, for once... we felt short! The Sister I Never Had

Although I am a proud older sister and have parents that are my best friends, my entire life I always wished I had an older sister. I thought it would be so great to have someone to look up to and share clothes with! Well after my crowning in November, I can finally say I do! My sister queen, Lacey, has become a part of my family. Not only do we look and act like sisters, but we get along so great and have so much in common, which is always nice! She is someone that I truly look up to and learn so much from! I am so very proud of everything she has done and accomplished and so glad that I'm fortunate enough to be her sister queen!

This past Tuesday, Lacey was in New York City with our State Directors, Miss Connecticut USA, and Miss Vermont USA in search of their evenings gowns for Miss USA. My mom and I went into New York for the evening to meet up with Lacey for castings for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! We were so excited because Lacey's mom flew in from California to be there for her to pick out her gown, and we were going to have the chance to catch up a little! It was so nice to see her, she is like another mom to me. The castings went well, and Lacey and I had some good laughs, as always! Fashion Week is held in New York, NY from February 11-18. I'm so excited because that is Lacey's Birthday Weekend! I want to make sure she has a great time, so hopefully we will book some more great shows (we already booked great ones) and get to catch a few others when we have free time..Chanel or Ralph Lauren would be nice!! "Together We Can"

"Team Together We Can" otherwise known as BVT's Cancer Awareness Network is a group that I am strongly supporting. The SkillsUSA Community Service Team that created the cancer awareness network has asked that I become an ambassador for their message. It is important that the world knows that cancer impacts everyone. It is a disease that is non-discriminatory. It is a disease that we must try to cure. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with the Community Service team: Erica Poirier, Beth Belanger, and Lacey O'Neil, and their inspiring advisor, Rosemary Quirk. Individuals throughout the community have been affected by cancer, along with faculty within the school, and even students. It is a heart-touching subject and I look forward to doing what I can to spread their message "Together We Can" throughout the course of my reign as Miss Massachusetts Teen USA. Check back for updates regarding events that you too can get involved in. Rest in Peace... Mr. Waters, Alex Stansky, and the many others that have had their lives taken. My hearts go out to their families. Remember, together, we can.

Words of Wisdom for 2010

A wise teacher of mine recently said to me, "Brooke, who ever said you can't do it all."

I left her classroom analyzing exactly what that meant. When I realized she was referring to being well-rounded and doing everything you love regardless of the roadblocks that may approach you along the way. I am currently a senior in High School. During the past four years, I have tried to do everything I could from my curriculum to extracurricular activities to community service to athletics. I knew at the start of my freshman year that after four years passed by and I was standing at the podium receiving both my traditional diploma along with my vocational diploma, that I didn't want to look back and regret a thing. So I ventured off to make my dreams come alive. I played on both the Varsity Basketball team and the Varsity Track & Field team since my freshman year, I was a member of Leo Club, Fashion Club, S.E.A, Aviation Club, Student Ambassadors, SkillsUSA, DECA, and FBLA. I had some inspiring coaches, wonderful advisors, and hardworking teammates. However, at the start of my basketball season this year, I thought real deep and hard about whether or not I wanted to play- I was taking several AP Classes, modeling part-time, President of FBLA, Vice President of DECA, and most importantly crowned Miss Massachusetts Teen USA! I felt so honored and fortunate to have that title that I wanted to put 110% of my effort into that. When my teacher heard of my mixed reactions regarding basketball, she had said that to me. It dawned on me, I could give a 110% to everything I did. I could do everything I love and help everyone I wanted, but most importantly impact others by spreading the fact that you too can do anything you put your mind to. It's all about respect, ambition, perseverance, integrity, honesty, and time-management. I can honestly say that I am doing everything I love and more. I hope that you too venture out to do the same.

On the record, I chose to continue playing basketball (which I am captain of and we are currently 6-0) as you may have expected along with every other club I was involved in as well as modeling. I still am Miss Massachusetts Teen USA and is so honored to be her and making the most of my reign by helping others, participating in local charities, and being an ambassador of goodwill.

Do everything you can. Do everything you love.

New Beginnings

First and foremost, happy New Years everyone... even better, happy New Decade! I hope you all had a happy holiday and a fun and safe new year! I spent New Years Eve with my parents, my young brother, and our closest family friends, the Dulacs and the Gerews. It was very relaxing. It was great to see everyone and catch up with them. I was fortunate to have the time to spend it with the people I love most!
I can not believe 2009 is over.It was a wonderful year for me. I was able to experience some great things and had quite the adventure doing so! I tried so many new things like "zip lining, scuba diving, rock climbing, ballroom dancing, salsa dancing, and so much more! I had the opportunity to model in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and Couture Fashion Week (which I will be doing again with my sister queen, Lacey in February- stay tuned). I was also given the privilege to be featured in the Sex and the City 2 Movie! I have to say, that was a great experience! Not only did I meet some of my favorite actors and actresses but I was also acquainted with some wonderful new friends! In 2009, I also became a National Bronze Medalist in Entrepreneurship for a "going green" business that myself and three other classmates established. The company is EN-V ("Teens for Green") and like I would always say, "EN-V is the future, and we're here to help your future!" Over the course of the summer, I participated in a non-profit internship. I interned a Jacob Realty in the PR Firm. I would also create advertisements and listings for them! It was a wonderful opportunity to experience and really gave me a better insight on what Public Relations and Journalism would have in store for me! I also got a better insight on the importance of networking and learned some great marketing strategies. I also became a God Mother to Aurora Pepin who was born three days before my crowning! I was so fortunate to have the time to travel to upstate New York to be there the day she was delivered. such a miracle and precious gift, and when I say she is the most beautiful baby.. I mean it! In addition, myself and the rest of my Varsity Basketball Team, which I am so fortunate to be captain of, raised $1,000.00 for the American Cancer Society in honor of Alex Stansky (a former player) who died due to a rare form of cancer. However, we created t-shirts that stated, "Let's dunk cancer for good!" We sold the t-shirts in order to raise the money. I said a speech the night that we presented the check to the American Cancer Society and was honored to do so! To top it all off, I became Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2010. It was a dream come true and the happiest moment in my life. I promise to make you proud Massachusetts! So, here's to 2009.. for blessing me with a loving and supporting family, for introducing me to new friends that became family and reconnecting me with old ones, for giving me numerous opportunities and awarding me with some of the most precious gifts, for moments that made me speechless and moments that brought tears to my eyes, and most importantly, for an endless year of self discovery. I can't wait to see what 2010 has is store for me!

Events to Come!

I recently was informed that I will be working with the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell! I am so excited to have this opportunity. On February 6, I will be be working and volunteering with their project in Bedford, Massachusetts with my sister queen Lacey, and Mrs. Massachusetts, Jane Marshall. We are creating a home for a family that needs a house that is handicap accessible in order to accommodate their children. I am very excited to do my part and meet some wonderful people along the way!

From May 1-9, the Habitat of Humanity is running a program known as "Women Build Week". Lacey and myself will also possibly be participating at this event also in the Bedford site. The unique thing about this program, which is hosted by Lowes, is that it is not only being ran throughout Massachusetts but also throughout the nation. Last year over 200 affiliates participated. I am thrilled and honored to be apart of it this year and make a difference in a families lives! It will also be a new and exciting experience for myself. I look forward to sharing the experience with you all! I encourage any one interested to volunteer on this project! Another great opportunity that has crossed my way, is the Genesis Fund! The Genesis Fund is a non-profit organization that provides funding for the specialized care of the New England Area children with birth defects, genetic diseases, and mental retardation. It is also a therapeutic program for children with special needs. The organization was founded in 1982 by Dr. Murray Feingold in order to coordinate medical care and typical health insurance coverage. Through fundraising events and private and corporate contributions, the Genesis Fund has raised over $20 million dollars.

I am so excited to be able to be a part of this and change the lives of other one foot step at a time. I was notified that Miss Massachusetts America 2009, Amanda Kelly had also worked with the Genesis Fund. I love working with children and have enjoyed doing so since my younger brother was born (who is currently 12). I can not wait to be a part of these kids lives and help them make everything possible... and encourage all of their dreams. Dancing with the Stars!

On December 12, Lacey and I were invited to the Dancing with the Stars Fashion Show! The event really had it all! The dancers, Edyta Sliwinska and Alec Mazo (from Dancing with the Stars) performed five dance routines. Lace and I walked for Michael de Paulo. He had all couture gowns. They were absolutely stunning! I am so tall, so sometimes it is really difficult to find a gown that fits me perfectly and all of his did! I wore two gowns: one was a navy blue off the shoulder gown with really cute pockets by the hips and the other was just a teal fitted gown. I loved them both! Michael de Paulo was so generous and offered his gowns to Lacey and I for appearances whenever we needed them!
We also ran into Alison Cronin who was also doing the show! Alison was Miss Massachusetts USA 2009. She is so sweet and accomplished. I hadn't seen her since the Connecticut Pageant; however, she looked fabulous! Lacey and I were interviewed by U Magazine TV. There was a Mercedes Benz Car (don't ask me what type because I have no clue, but I loved it) there that people were photographing with. The car was worth $400,000!! One day that will be mine- ha ha, I wish! The event was an enjoyable time and I was happy to have my dad come and watch the fashion show to support Lace and I. Even better I was able to spend the day with my sister queen!

Everyone is a Beauty Queen!

On December 6, I had my first appearance with my sister queen, Lacey Wilson! I was invited to a Christmas Fashion Show and Holiday Event for Paula Terenzi's Dance Complex. It gave young girls and young adults the chance to go out in front of a crowd, model and do a small dance routine. It was really cute because the theme was based off the South. All the dancers and models were dressed in a Southwestern Style and they played country music (my favorite)!! They later picked models in different age categories based on poise and self confidence. I think it was a great event to socialize and help the young girls gain self-confidence. It also really got me into the holiday spirit. In fact, I even listened to Christmas music the whole ride home. I enjoyed the day with all the wonderful people I met, Paula, and Lacey! Couldn't have asked for more!

Connecticut USA Pageant

The day after my first appearance I went to the Connecticut Pageant! It was such a great time to see the entire Clemente family and my pageant sisters from Vermont, Nydelis Ortiz (Miss Vermont USA) and Shelby Gregoire (Miss Vermont Teen USA). I was also very excited to meet the new Connecticut Titleholders. I did not have the opportunity to meet the 2009 Connecticut Titleholders until this very weekend, Monica Pietrzak (Miss Connecticut USA 2009- not to mention a semi-finalist at Miss USA 2009) and Tiffany Teixeira (Miss Connecticut Teen USA 2009). Both were so sweet, genuine, and beautiful! I was so grateful to have the opportunity to meet them! Congratulations to Ashley Bickford, the new Miss Connecticut USA 2010 and Alyssa Taglia, the new Miss Connecticut Teen USA 2010! I look forward to our year together! Clemente Productions, you put on a wonderful show, as always! Thank you for such a great time!

First Appearance!

My very first appearance happened literally five days after I was crowned! It was at Hillview Country Club in Reading, MA for the Reading Baseball Organization. I was very excited! I couldn't wait! However, I was also some what nervous because my Miss, Lacey Wilson, wasn't going to be there due to a family trip that had been planned long before considering it was Thanksgiving Weekend! I knew regardless I was going to have a great time. I just was a little nervous since it was my first one.
Soon enough that day came! I was still stuffed from the great Thanksgiving dinner I had at my aunts the day before. I got ready and put on a cute black cocktail dress! Then I grabbed my sash and crown and was ready to go (so I thought!) I went to Elyse Jewelers, our official jeweler for the year, to get dressed in diamonds! It is not a lie when they say, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend!" Then headed off to the event.
The event had a wonderful turn out and they raised a great amount of money for the organization through ticket sales and raffles. I think my favorite raffle was actually the pair of tickets to the Boston Red Sox on opening day- a true Bostonian here! I helped the Varsity Baseball Team for Reading High School by going around and selling balloons! Each balloon had a ticket in it, which at the end of the night would determine the cash prizes! It was a wonderful time.
However, I have to admit, there was a funny story that went along with it. Most people knew anyway, so I am guilty to admit I wore my sash on backwards... how embarrassing! I think I was just so excited and nervous that it didn't dawn on me. Plus it was my very first event and I was new at it all! I know.. excuses, excuses! And the funniest thing is, the Comedians that performed at the event kept making jokes about it and I didn't understand why! Opps! Now I know! No one is perfect. But I had a great time and was thrilled to help the Reading Baseball Organization raise money!

Hey All!

My name is Brooke Bibeault and I am Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2010! I will be competing for the title of Miss Teen USA in August (lets hope its nationally televised)! I am so excited to share my journey with you- all the laughs and experiences I will encounter! I can't wait to share with you the moral values I learn, the wonderful people I meet, and the organizations I work with. It is just the beginning! But thank you to all for the support and generosity.
